The strength of a wooden box is rated based on the weight it can carry before the top (top, ends, and sides).

Goods or shipping containers are often placed on a pallet secured with strapping, stretch wrap or shrink wrap and shipped.

The top deck boards are then affixed to the stringers to create the pallet structure.

There are many variations of Wooden Crate designs. By far the most common are closed , open and framed.

Crates can be made of wood, plastic, metal or other materials.

A Wooden Crate has a self-supporting structure, with or without sheathing.

There is no strict definition of an open crate as compared to a closed crate
